B. Meta Tags: Meta Tags help search engines find your website. In order to get an idea of what meta tags you might want to use for your website, you might look at the information on other websites with search engine results that are similar to your desired word search patterns. You will need to decide what search words you would like your site to appear as a search engine result, and then run a search on those words. Once you have found search engine results try reading the meta tag information on the pages found.
You can find the meta tag information that might be helpful on other peoples pages by using the following method:
Right click on a blank area of any webpage and go to view source. At the top of the page you will find the heading for the page. <> <meta> </meta></head> These tags are used for website identification. They help crawlers and spiders find your webpage, and index it.
A. DSL v. Cable DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line. This is a connection over your telephone line that allows you to use your phone and be connected to the internet at that same time. It is a pretty fast connection depending on the amount of transfer capabilities that you pay for. Digital Cable is connecting to the internet through your cable TV provider. The download speed of cable depends upon the number of users at any given time. The more users the slower the speed.
B. A 56k V90 and V92 modem are the fastest speed available for use with a direct non DSL phone line. 56K stands for the amount of information that can be transfered, or 56 thousand bits of information per second.
Using the Dial Up Modem interupts your phone service. However the new V92 standard allows you to use call waiting on your phone line, so if you get a call while surfing the internet and pick up a phone call, your computer stays connected to the internet while you are talking.
Both V90 and V92 transfer rates are limited to the quality of your phone line. If you have a low quality phone line, or are far away from the server, your connection will be lower than the 56K.
C. Modem Type: There are three basic types of modmes.
1. Controller Based Modem: A controller based modem has all of the components it uses to do the data transfer on the modem itself. This modem is best for use with poor quality phone lines.
2. Controller Less Modem: A controller less modem uses some of the components of the system it is installed for doing data transfer.
3. Software Modem: A software based modem uses the systems processor and memory and software installed on the system to for its data transfer.
